Jacob first started in the industry in 2012 with Ameriprise Financial. Working at Ameriprise, he learned the importance of holistic financial planning. He took that knowledge and experience with him as he transitioned to Northwestern Mutual. Northwestern Mutual taught him that asset accumulation for future use is critical but unforeseen events can derail the journey quickly if you do not prepare yourself.
While at Northwestern Mutual, Jacob worked tirelessly to obtain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations. These two designations helped prepare Jacob to answer the increasingly complicated financial planning questions facing individuals and families today. Studying for these designations helped Jacob understand how much he did not know about investments, insurance, and financial planning strategies. Having obtained the CFP® and ChFC® gave him the confidence that he has the knowledge to help.
Jacob graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho with a Business Management degree, where he studied Finance and Supply Chain Management. These significant areas of study helped Jacob realize that he likes to work with numbers and loves to teach others about the wonders of planning and organization.
Since 2017 Jacob has worked with David S. Dixon, CFP® at Dixon Financial Group, LLC, helping David with administrative aspects of financial planning. Jacob's primary role was assisting David with DFG's clients' Retirement Income Plans. These plans show clients how retirement savings can be turned into retirement income. Jacob and David strongly believe that utilizing investments that pay dividends increases the likelihood of growth and provides a Real Return for each client. In early 2023, Jacob took on the LPL Financial Advisor role and is working one-on-one with clients.
As Jacob strives to build his financial planning practice, his primary role is to help educate young professionals and entrepreneurs on their journey to manage risk for pitfalls and create a more confident future. Jacob can help them understand the complexities of their benefits package at work or teach them the rules surrounding retirement accounts, so they don't make costly mistakes.
Jacob genuinely appreciates the time spent with his family as a husband and father. His family enthusiastically supports his training, including early morning runs on the road or the treadmill and during events. Running and completing his first half marathon (Revel Mt. Charleston) in 2022 has given him a renewed outlook, and Jacob now runs to remind himself that he can conquer challenges daily. As the founder of BPN Supplements, Nick Bare, puts it, "Prove Yourself Right."
